These teacher notes are based on the new Aotearoa New Zealand Histories curriculum being implemented in 2023 and written by Defyd Williams, who was part of the Ministry of Education reference group for the curriculum.
The House that Jack Built helps students, at all levels, understand the four big ideas of the new curriculum:

These teacher notes use the artwork and the rhyme as stimulus to suggest activities and extension mahi as outlined in the understand, know and do strands of the new curriculum requirements.
