Kitty Crowther

Kitty Crowther lives in Belgium. With English and Swedish parents, and born in Brussels, she has written and illustrated over forty books which have been translated into twenty languages and won many awards. In 2010, she received the world’s most prestigious prize for children’s literature: the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award

“I’m fascinated by mythology and folk tales in stories ... I believe that stories never die. They come back and they’re dressed up differently, but the root is the same. I wouldn’t write or draw the way I do if I hadn’t had all those wonderful books as a child. I also believe that books shape you, and bring to light parts of yourself that you need to remember.   I even think that the stories choose you.”
