14 September Art Day: Picture Me at the National Library Readings and activities for the whole family, a drawing competition, and illustration workshops for children 6–12 years

Join international picturebook makers for hands-on illustration workshops, read-alouds, book signings, a drawing competition and more!

Join Antje Damm for craft and drawing workshops, in which you will create a tiny scene inside a matchbox or carton.

Join Aurore Petit for drawing and painting workshops including self portraits and collective paintings.

Join Piotr Socha for a drawing workshop in which participants collaboratively create a giant tree illustration.

Bring your pens and pencils to the illustration corner and create your own artwork linking to the festival theme of identity. Enter your artwork in the competition and guest illustrators will select work from each age group to show in the Picture Me exhibition at Te Auaha Gallery.

Listen to our visiting illustrators and New Zealand authors read their books in the reading corner. Meet Juliette MacIver, Fifi Colston, Ruth Paul, Sacha Cotter and Josh Morgan.

Take part in guided tours and visit the exhibitions at the National Library.
